What Makes WBR Camp the Best Week of Summer?
By Jacqueline Corcoran
It’s every parents concern: What’s the best way for your child to spend his or her free time during summer or school breaks? Many believe it’s a time for children to play and have fun. Others see an opportunity for kids to learn new skills or focus on subjects outside of the classroom. Summer camp provides a unique opportunity to try something new.
What are the benefits?
The benefits of summer camp are plentiful. At camp, children are encouraged to get out of their comfort zones, try new activities, and build social relationships. Camp can also provide physical activity (disguised in the form of fun and games) which allow youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle, often without even realizing it. Naturally the absence of electronic devices at camp also aids in developing deeper focus and concentration.
Among the many benefits of the camp experience*, day camp uniquely:
- Provides the camp experience for campers that are too young, anxious about being away from home, or just not ready for residential camp.
- Can create the foundation needed for successful longer-term experiences away from home.
- Allows for a greater partnership between the camp and the camper’s parents surrounding the growth and skill building that takes place at summer camp.
Utilizing both low ground elements and the high ropes course, Wild Blue Warrior Camp program provides campers with a unique opportunity for team building and gaining self-confidence. Our purposefully designed ropes course includes 72 suspended obstacles, and a perfect descent from a 35 ft. high platform. Campers go through a progression of initiatives ranging from simple to complex as they challenge each obstacle. All camp activities are supervised by our well-trained staff who participate through demonstration, instruction, and support.
Wild Blue Ropes’ camp offers specific daily activities that are balanced between structured and unstructured play. Campers learn how to work with others, build meaningful relationships, accept guidance, and develop decision-making skills. All of these life skills nurture independence and confidence. The unique, co-ed program is designed for ages 8 – 14 years.
